FRUIT-FLY CULTURE STARTER KIT

INCLUDES: 3 -32 oz. clear cups, 3 fabric waffle ventilated lids, excelsior, potato flakes and media for 8 32 oz cups. This kit should last 10 weeks. ( 1- 32 oz. culture should feed 3 dart frogs for 1 month) We recommend making 1 culture each week.

FRUIT FLIES NOT INCLUDED

INSTRUCTIONS: In a deli cup add 3 Tbsp of media (potato flakes/ yeast), 6 Tbsp hot water (to activate the yeast), 6 Tbsp apple cider vinegar, and 1/4 banana peeled and mashed. Mix thoroughly. Place 2 thin slices of banana with peel, on top of the wet mixture. Add 1 ball of excelsior gently fluffed up to fill the cup.

Add live fruit-flies (not included) and secure the lid. Store culture between 70-80 degrees. Culture will begin to produce flies in approx 2-3 weeks. Re-using the deli cups, your culture kit will yield 8-10 cultures.

HABITAT & BREEDING: Genetically bred at low temperatures to develop wings which are reduced in size and do not fully function. These smaller sized flies are extremely prolific and produce huge numbers of offspring

FEEDING: Fruit flies are the perfect size for feeding dart frogs. We recommend feeding as part of a varied diet, as with any live food, variety is the key to providing a well-balanced, nutritious diet. The addition of calcium and vitamins is recommended to enhance nutritional content of these flies.
