LOCATION: Southern Amazon Basin in Brazil. 

HABITAT: Dark, humid microclimates near small streams, moss-covered rocks, and under debris. Temperature: 65-80 degrees. Humidity: 70%-100%

BREEDING: Maturity in 14-24 months, Seasonal breeders. Egg clutches of 4-10 eggs.

CHARACTERISTICS: Terrestrial with a black body, featuring a brightly colored pattern of orange "splashed" across its back.
